Meet Alyssa
Alyssa Catakovic B. Psych (Hons), MOrgPsych, ANZICA (Prov)
Choosing to grow your family can be one of life's most meaningful experiences, but it can also be one of the most emotionally complex. Whether you're beginning fertility treatment, considering donor conception, exploring your options, navigating the perinatal period, or adjusting to unexpected outcomes, you don't have to navigate it alone.
I am a registered psychologist, providing specialist counselling for individuals and couples at every stage of their fertility journey. My role is to create a compassionate, non-judgemental space where you can make sense of your experiences, navigate difficult decisions, and move forward with confidence.
For more than eight years, I have worked within one of Australia's leading fertility clinics, collaborating with fertility specialists, nurses, embryologists and multidisciplinary teams to support patients throughout their family-building journey. I have also led national donor programs, giving me a unique understanding of the clinical, ethical, and emotional considerations surrounding donor conception.
In addition, I have undertaken specialised training in perinatal counselling and perinatal trauma, enabling me to support individuals and couples through the emotional challenges that can arise during pregnancy, birth and the transition to parenthood. Together, these experiences have given me genuine insight into the challenges that can arise, from the uncertainty of trying to conceive and IVF treatment to fertility preservation, donor conception, pregnancy loss, pregnancy and early parenthood.
Alongside my specialist work in fertility and reproductive counselling, I also support adults experiencing anxiety, stress, life transitions, relationship challenges, grief and self-esteem difficulties. Whatever brings you to counselling, I believe therapy should be tailored to your unique experiences, values and goals.
My approach is warm, practical and evidence-based. I draw on therapies such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Solution-Focused Therapy, and mindfulness-based approaches, always adapting sessions to suit your goals and what feels most helpful for you.
Whether you're navigating the challenges of fertility treatment, looking to better understand yourself, or seeking emotional wellbeing, I am here to walk alongside you. Together, we can work towards your goals.
